Nearly Valentines!

...not that it matters much in our house! LOL Not usually anyway...but this year I am getting a treat :) Cant tell you yet tell after though :))

So..anyway...since the last blog a lot and not a lot of things have happened, if that makes sense?  My dad spent nearly 3 weeks in hospital and then I spent a week at his house when he came home.  He is on the mend but its slow.

I still managed to squeeze an afternoon or so of Snobs & Slobs in though! Good therapy those girls...many thanks!!!  Lorraine managed to finish a quilt she started not long ago (sorry the pics not at a great angle)  Tis different and looks and feels lovely.

I was digging around my cupboard to see what I had and found two tubs of these tapestry wools that one of the Slobs & Snobs had given me ages ago. 

Went on the web and had a search around to see what I could make with them.....

Lynne loved what I had done, so she got her wools back all made up!

Mid January was the bi-annual Encore Lovers Reunion Dinner.  We now have some of the male partners coming along to bring their spouses (otherwise they might miss out), so here is our group this time round.

In a couple of months there is going to be a rose released just for us "Encore" is its name and will be on sale to the public.  I will keep you informed on the costing etc, cos we would love to sell loads as all the profit goes back to funding more women doing the program!

At the end of January we (Snobs & Slobs) went on an outing to one of the local quilt shop openings.  Of course we had to stop somewhere for a refreshing drink and feed some worms....we had a ring-in come along who happens to be rather cute so we didn't mind at all.  He has good taste in fabric and might turn out to be the next quiltaholic in his family!  (In case you don't know this is Claire aka Quilty Gals grandson, Seth, from Wales)

Yesterday the family took a trip to see the nephews new house that is being built in the country and then out for tea.  For the locals, we went to the Tanunda Clubhouse...VERY nice food indeed.  Good job we don't live close cos I would be like the back end of a large charter bus if I did -- would be eating there all the time if the money allowed it!  On the way home, we diverted in to my young brothers place to see his latest pets...Mulcher-mulcher and Ratbag...two bearded dragons. Sooooo cute...and no...I am not allowed one! (They are only about 3 inches long at the moment!)

Live, laugh, love....

...and we did all of that this weekend!!  Yes, it was the bi-annual trip to Carrickalinga for us Snobs & Slobs once again.  Unfortunately, not all attended this weekend due to various circumstances...and all weekend we kept waiting for the others to come upstairs from the toilet! LOL

Never the less....we managed to open our purses in a couple of the fabric/quilt shops on the way (and even on the way back too!) (Haven't got a pic of all our purchases - which is probably a good thing really!)  

We stopped at a wonderful shop in Unley for morning tea/lunch (Lorraine's worms were playing up again) that only sells Gluten Free food!!! Seventh heaven for myself and Claire.  Here they are waiting to be fed :)

Then it was off and going to the destination of our home away from home for 3 nights and days.  We were rather quick to get the PJ's on.

And started off with Show Off and Tell.  Lorraine was first with her Farmers Wife quilt.

So we all then went off into a huff and hid for the afternoon.  As the weekend progressed, so did the projects.  Lorraine got this quilt top almost finished - made from a jelly roll.

She also got this lovely little Christmas quilt top done - made from a charm pack.

Kay did a good job on her Drunkards Path Quilt.

Claire was well away with one of her new patterns from Gale Pan Designs.

Kay also managed to put together a delightful scrap quilt.  Here we all are having a feel with out toes :)

My effort for the most part was annoying everyone with my stupidity and taking nice pictures - some of which are to follow.  Besides that I did manage to get the next project for Thursday craft almost finished.  It is a Christmas crazy patch waistcoat (or for some, a cushion cover)

The usual array of food was on hand for consumption.

 

The following pics are the ones which I will probably get smacked for putting up here - but you get that! (I have a new camera and it does some funny stuff as you take the pics! so why not use it I say??)

And so ends another trip :( Oh well back to the grindstone so we can all come again in another six months!

The end of the week....

....and lunch was on the menu! LOL!!!  SW and I had been invited to attend the Northern Volunteers luncheon at one of our local pubs.  Very nice lunch and company :) So thank you to the NV's for inviting us.

Saturday was another Farmers Wife get together.  This time out in the Barossa Valley at Granny Loz's place.  As you can see, there was a bit of thread hanging around, scissors and pins...

 ...plenty of nibbles, with freshly made Anzac Biscuits that Loz had just put in the oven as we arrived....

...lots of chatting - Claire, Tara and Kris of course were the main culprits.....

...Shay, Loz and Denise missed out on the action a bit in this department! lol

Tara shared her effort so far on the FW quilt! Very nice indeed :)

Also where she is up to on her Mrs Billings Quilt! Another nice effort:)

A lovely day once again was had by all and I think we went home a little exhausted and wishing we hadn't started this FW project!!!!

Anyway...SW and I had tea and then I sat down to work on a couple of the little kits I had bought at the fair last weekend.  The first was a little old fashioned pram.  If you take note there is a 'bobbin' looking item at the bottom right of the picture - this was the 'baby' before it got dressed up.

And this was the little one finished before being put in the pram. (The ruler is in centimetres by the way!)

This is the finished product.  I was quite happy with the kit and how well it went together.

I then decide to open the next kit and do the little Kauri House - the is the front of the house completed with the pram.

Of course every home needs furnishing...so I had bought the kits of furniture to make up too for the inside!  (Made a blunder and put the chimney side of the house on the wrong side tho! :((( ) Hate making mistakes like that - another 'Amish' move for me -----  and for those that don't know about the Amish, they make beautiful quilts - all have a deliberate error - also their dolls have no faces - as they believe that only God can make the perfect image.

Then I moved on to a dining table and chair set - this is the next size up from the house and pram.  I was rather pleased with these - even though they look a tad wonky on here - but they do sit flat and are level!!!

So a productive evening was had by me and off to bed I went!  Today is Mothers Day in Australia, so I wish all the mums past and present a Happy Mothers Day - hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day xxx

I dont believe it!

....that so much time has passed since my last blog!!!! I also don't believe that I haven't taken that many photos since then either! Getting rather slack in my old age :)

So...since the last time I was here...SW and I went away so that I could go to a Workshop on the Yorke Peninsular, we have had Easter - nice break catching up with family and friends, school holidays - time to catch up on some work, getting ready for the next Encore program along with some quilting and miniatures!

The girls at the IQ Workshop - very interesting day - other than the fact I got a speeding fine on the way back to the cabin! First one in 26 years!!!Shiela managed to finish of her Easter eggs too - just in time! lucky grandchildren :)We also went to a friends birthday lunch - was quite funny to say the least.... blowing out the candles...Still blowing out the candles....with the help of hubby and brother and friend......and then the realisation that they cant be blown out!I had a couple of friends over for lunch the other day and was blessed with these beautiful flowers as a gift! Got some choccies too but they're gone so cant show you them!!! LOL

And tonight I have done the first floor in my miniature home. This is 1/48th scale - so that's quarter of what I am used to working in. Very interesting and makes you think even beyond the outside of the square you think in doing 1/12th or 1/24th!! Challenges!!!! Stay tuned for floor 2 coming in May.

Playing snobs...

...well, only in my little mind for a second! Last weekend the Queen Mary II was in port for a while so one of my friends invited us to join her Zonta group for a fundraiser - High Tea & Champers and then to wave off the voyagers on the next leg of their journey. We had a great afternoon, met up with some lovely people - SW had to squash his face back into shape when we left to go home - spent so much time laughing with the group on our table! So thank you Adrienne for a lovely time!A couple of weeks ago it was my turn to have the FW girls over - very industrious lot to say the least! We had a surprise guest turn up from Melbourne - Kris - was lovely to see her again and especially saying it was a surprise visit. Thanks for taking the time out to visit with us Kris! xx
Of course the usual things were done on the day - discuss the world ----and set it right, yet again! Eat food and drink coffee! What more could a girl want??? Granny Loz and Shay joined us. As did Quilty Gal, Tara and Kay (no blog!)Two Thursdays ago, we finished our Easter Eggs off. I was rather pleased with my final result - don't think I will get a job with Faberge though! LOL Here is Lorraine deep in concentration...

Fab job!Another of the Grandmothers Flower Garden quilts finished! This is Jessie's one - tis quilted now only needs the binding done!
